Abstract

ASI complementary foods (MP-ASI) are other foods besides breastfeeding during the period of supplementary feeding until the baby is slowly accustomed to eating family food. The MP-ASI is at least given when the baby is 4 to 6 months old. The provision of MP-ASI which is not right and not appropriate in quality or quantity can cause the baby to suffer from malnutrition. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers about complementary feeding and early supplementary feeding at Posyandu Matahari Puskesmas Mayang Jember. The population in this study amounted to 60 people with total sampling technique sampling. Retrieval of data using cross sectional method. Data analysis used Chi Square test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the calculated Chi-Square value was 14.199 and the Chi-Square table was 5.991 so it can be concluded that the calculated X2 value> X2 table then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that there is a statistically significant relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about complementary feeding and early supplementary feeding.
